Visitor FAQ's

These are some of the common questions we get asked about the market

The market starts at 9am and from March 2024 will finish slightly later at 1pm

You can find the market at the Wadhurst Commemoration Hall and Institute, in the centre of the village, (next to the White Hart pub).

Wadhurst Commemoration Hall, High Street, Wadhurst, TN5 6AP

You will find everything from locally made award winning food and drink, including apple juice, gin, craft ale, cakes, bakes, pastries and bread, Wadhurst honey, jam and preserves, fresh fish, venison and venison jerky, authentic Vietnamese takeaway food, Indian and Lebonese falafils. Soap, clothing, knits, textiles, ceramics, hand carved wood, jewellery, crafts, haberdashery, candles and wax melts, beautiful arts, sculptures, cards, prints and paintings, pet food, plants and much more

There are 2 free car parks in Wadhurst, both within a 5 minute walk. These can be found on Washwell Lane and next to the Greyhound Inn.

There is also street parking on the High Street, but this can get congested.

Wadhurst is lucky to have a High Street full of independent shops, from a greengrocers, butchers, book shop, cafes, pubs, restaurants, barbers and hairdressers, dog groomers, clothing, a pharmacy, newsagents, stationery shop, several charity shops, small supermarket, retail food shops and estate agents.

Behind the Commemoration Hall is a small playground for young children and a fantastic open playing field (no dogs unfortunately).

We have country footpath walks and pretty rural lanes to explore.

Bewl Reservior is a short drive with access from the A21 or you can walk from Blacksmiths lane, following signposted footpaths (muddy in winter!!). This will be across farmland which may have sheep and cattle in them, so please keep dogs under control or on a lead.

After you've visited the market and hopefully bought from our talented stall holders you could visit the other shops on our High St, most of which are independent businesses and not part of a major chain (which is quite unusual).

We have several coffee shops and a pub on the High St if you are looking for a coffee or more substantial meal.

Behind the Commemoration Hall is a small play ground for young children and a large playing field. In the summer you may get the chance to watch one of our local football clubs or a cricket match here. However, no dogs please.

Our Church, St Peter and St Paul dates back the Norman era and the church spire to the 14th century.

You can walk to Bewl reservoir across the fields from Blacksmiths Lane (please keep dogs on leads across the fields as these do have sheep and cattle in). Or it is a short drive with access from the A21. You will need to pay to park.

Bedgebury Pinetum is another great place to visit with a range of walks, 14+ play areas and GoApe. The paths are well maintained and you don't need wellies! Best enjoyed when you have several hours and maybe a packed lunch from the market. Again you will need to pay to park.

We love to meet potential new stall holders. Please send a message by email, Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.

You must live within 30 miles of Wadhurst and design, make or produce the items you wish to sell. Unfortunately Franchises such as AVON etc and owned by a larger main company, do not fit the market ethos of locally made.

We love to support the local community and good causes, and if we have the space are happy to offer you a stall free of charge.

Whilst the market is regularly fully booked and we often have a waiting list, please message as we often have last minute availability and as the year progresses and peoples plans change can find that pitches can free up.
